Fortune magazine recently released their top one hundred best companies to work for in 2010 based on job growth, amount of employees, the best paying, and those with the best perks. Below we’ve listed the top five companies from Fortune’s list of 100, look for Part 2 to 10 Best Companies to Work for in 2010 for the second five best companies to work for.

Ranked 1st – SAS Institute Inc. (North Carolina)

Those who have followed Fortune’s prior lists of best companies are not surprised to see SAS on top. Headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, SAS (Statistical Analysis System) is a major producer of computer software. Ranked 2nd – Edward Jones (Missouri)

Edward Jones Investments, currently headquartered in Des Peres, Missouri, was first founded in 1922 and is one of the few investment advisory companies that managed to weather the recession.
